2022 Leadership Exchange

Dear IIMHL/IIDL members,

As previously announced, New Zealand leaders and IIMHL/IIDL have rescheduled the 2022 IIMHL/IIDL Christchurch Leadership Exchange event to October 2022. Due to ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) developments and restrictions, and with the wellbeing and safety of our members and staff as our highest priority, we decided to move the event to later in the year and to shift to a predominantly online format.

We are committed to providing the experience our members and partners deserve in a safe environment.  We have designed the 2022 Leadership Exchange with a continued emphasis on providing opportunities for network-building, collaboration, and sharing best practice.  The three elements of the 2022 Leadership Exchange are:

1.   Matches

These will be fully virtual and offered during the first three weeks of October. Match hosts will offer virtual events, using the Zoom platform. Match sessions will be limited to 90 minutes to two hours to accommodate their virtual nature and multiple sessions on the same match topic may be held, depending on the match hosts' co-design planning with Match visitors. Match hosts will also be encouraged to host sessions in March 2022 to maintain momentum towards October. Attendee limits will be set by Match hosts.

2.   Network Meeting

The traditional format of a Network Meeting will be devolved into three regional locations using the hub concept - one in Australasia/Pacific Islands (Christchurch, New Zealand), one in North America (Washington DC), and one in Europe (TBD). Each hub will hold a two-day in person meeting on October 26 and 27. This approach continues the practice of the Leadership Exchange hosting the Matches first and the Network Meeting afterwards.

Keynote sessions from each hub will be loaded to a virtual platform for sharing across the hubs and for viewing by members who are not able to travel. Hubs will be limited to a number of attendees, as we have done with the Network Meeting in past years.

Should travel to hubs not be possible as of May 2022, or due to a later unforeseen event, the organizers of each hub will have a plan in place to easily pivot to a fully virtual event over the same two days, with a maximum of three to four hours per day, utilizing the main keynote speakers for virtual sessions. Zoom will be used for breakout rooms as our experience is that this can be easily managed to ensure maximum interaction and networking.

3.   Virtual Viewing

Recordings of keynote presentations will be available for viewing at a dedicated URL link.  Once you register for this component, the link will be sent just prior to the event.

Registration will open soon and you will have the option of choosing your virtual match, and in person hub attendance in your region of residence or virtual viewing.  Stay tuned for a Special Update to announce the opening of the IIMHL/IIDL 2022 Leadership Exchange registration.
